    So, I have a distribution group called Team1 that has a number of users.  I need to assign file security to a number of shares and folders with the same group of people.  So I create a security group called SG-Team1.  Now from what I understand, I should be able to add the SG-Team1 Security Group to the Team1 Distribution Group and remove the individual users right?  I tried and no one received any email...  Am I doing something wrong?

    We are using Exchange 2007 in a Windows 2008 domain.

    Why don't you create a mail enabled security group directly?

    Hi Tony,

    In one line - You should not remove the users from SG-Team1. If you remove then you are adding an empty DL as member of Team1 DL

    Example - We have 4 users 1&2 on Team 1 Distribution List and 3&4 on SG-Team1 Distribution list. Now, SG-Team1 is member of of Team1, if you remove 3 or 4 and a email sent to Team 1, removed person wont receive email

    Inform if any details are needed
