vista upgrade advisor decision basis for vista edition recommendation RRS feed

  • Question

  • my "modern" techie ran the upgrade advisor on a pc running xp pro and said the advisor recommends vista business. (there are between 10 and 20 pcs, some with win 2000, wired).

did the advisor say 'business' because it knew it was on an xp pro pc? had it not been xp pro, is it likely to have said home premium?

so, what is its basis for recommending a specific vista edition?

and, does the advisor 'snoop out' the network and use the network configuration as a basis? or is it really oblivious of what the network configuration is?

    thank you for your insight.
