Upgrading App-V Adobe Reader with an msp

Question
-
Hi everyone, I am very new to the whole App-V sequencing game and my task has been to upgrade our current virtualised Adobe Reader 9.4 to 9.7 using the msp patch. I have come across some problems when running the msp, an error is shown stating that 'The action is only valid for products that are currently installed'.
Now like I say I am very new to this so hope I am going about this the right way. I opened the sequencer (v4.6) , selected Modify and Existing Virtual Application Package, Update Application in Existing Package, selected the sprj file of version 9.4, create a new folder for version 9.7, then pointed the sequencer to the msp installer and selected Run. This is when I got the error. I have tried all three options within the option to Modify an Existing Virtual Application Package but get the same error.
Can someone shed some light on what it is I am doing wrong please? Thanks All.

I'd wonder if the issue is to do with the fact you may have sequenced Adobe Reader to the virtual drive and the .msp is looking for the product in the C:\ or possibly trying to update the shortcut also or something like that as the shortcut is not advertised during sequencing.
That's just my theory. I've never tried to upgrade an Adobe app using Active Upgrade. It's always been a fresh app. I've also usually sequenced to the VFS.
Could try either copying the contents of your sequenced app to their C:\ locations or install Reader on your sequencing machine before opening the application for upgrade and then just capturing the MSP. Not 100% sure if that will work

Do you have the right MSP file?
Adobe Reader MSP files are -most of the time- incremental patches. Try to grab the right one from Adobe's FTP server: ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/
Also, Reader 9.7 doesn't exist. Probably you mean 9.4.7 ? Try a lower version first.
