Restricting Page Viewer part from opening the new window of the requested URL. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Applies to: MOSS 2007, Internet Explorer 8

I am trying to save a URL in Page Viewer webpart but it keeps redirecting to the new window.

For eg: http://mymoss2007.com/mypage has Page Viewer webpart and I am trying to save the URL http://myserver.com/app page. The latter authenticates a user and logs in. If user not found then redirected to login page, a typical thing.

I my trying to save the webpart with a user who doesn't have permissions on myserver.com/app (like any other website). I want the login page to be appeared within the frame (webpart box) only and not redirecting to the new window. Page Viewer webpart is not allowing me to save the URL at all.

    How can I achieve this?

    Thank you and

    Regards

  • Hi Tanzim,

I put another site web page in my site Page Viewer webpart, if the current user has no permission for the site in webpart, it will display the error page (built-in SharePoint) in webpart, and it will pop up  the login dialogue (windows authentication) when I click the “Sign in as a different user”.

It seems that you used the custom login page for your SharePoint site, and when it needed to authenticate the user (had) and redirected to the login page in a new window.
You need to check the IE8 Internet Option->Tab settings, if it still doesn’t work, you need to check the page forwarding control in your code.

    Thanks,
    Daniel

  • Hello Daniel,

    Thank you for your reply.

I tried many different options but the page I am calling has Frame Breaker java code which will never allow the page to be displayed in a frame unless I use an anti-Breaker code. Moreover, page viewer web part uses iFrame to show the page.

Hence is there a way to come across this without much of customisation etc. The whole point is to avoid customisation, coding as much as we can.

    Thank you

  • Hi,

I think this is happening because of frame busting in the iframe. Please look at the following links and see if it helps.
