Unable to measure HDD performance for winsat ? Cannot get rating like many others.... RRS feed

  • Question

  • Trying to run the perfomance indexing test and mine seems to fail when measuring the hard disk, which worked before at some point on the same OS install.  Would anyone be so kind as to offer suggestions on getting this to complete?

Hi, you can try the following command and check the result:

Assesses the sequential I/O read performance of drive C:

    Code Snippet
winsat disk -seq -read -drive c

You can also see if the following commands work on the computer:

assesses the random I/O write performance of drive number 2:

    Code Snippet

winsat disk -ran -write -n 2

assesses the flush performance of drive C:

    Code Snippet

    winsat disk -flush -drive c

Meanwhile, you can check the following article regarding winsat disk:

  • Thanks for that. The command line gives me a little more about the error:

C:\>winsat disk -seq -read -drive c
    Windows System Assessment Tool
    > Running: Feature Enumeration v1.0.0.0 ''
    > Run Time 00:00:00.75
    > Running: Storage Performance Assessment via Profiling v1.0.0.0 '-seq -read -dr
    ive c'
Error: Failed to properly assess the disk.
Overlapped I/O operation is in progress.
    > Run Time 00:00:00.00
    > Total Run Time 00:00:01.12

Now the trick is to find out what "Overlapped I/O operation is in progress" is exactly...
