Sample Database installation problem

Question
-
I've downloaded the SQL Server 2008 sample databases from CodePlex. When I run the installer, after I accept the license agreement and click next, I get the error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." All the prerequisites for the installation have been met. I've seen references to this problem elsewhere but no solutions. Anybody run into this before?
Server is SQL Server 2008 x64 Enterprise Edition in a two-node cluster with SP1 installed.Friday, March 19, 2010 6:45 PM

Hi,
>>The problem persists. I suspect that there's a domain or system policy interfering, but I have no idea what it could be.
If so, you'd better ask your DC administration team for help, hope they can help you.
Thanks,

Hi,
The error might be due to interrupt of installer program, could you please re-download SQL Server 2008 SR4 and try to install again. If the error persists, please find the corresponding error message in Windows Event Viewer and post here.
Thanks,
Chunsong

Those instructions appear to apply to an older version of the installer that isn't available on Codeplex. Though if I could find a copy of that version, it might give me what I need.Monday, March 22, 2010 5:36 PM
