Creating MOSS 2007 web application using restored content db. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am moving Moss 2007 web application from one server to another server having Moss 2007 as well by restoring the content database from first server to second. But while attaching content DB to new web application it is giving error :-

"The specified SPContentDatabase Name=SPIntranet Parent=SPDatabaseServiceInstance has been upgraded to a newer version of SharePoint. Please upgrade this SharePoint application server before attempting to access this object. "

What could be the reason and solution.

    Suboor.

  • It means that your source SharePoint farm is newer than the one you're trying to restore into.  You need to match exactly both service patches and hotfixes on WSS and MOSS.  If you can get the SharePoint version number from your source farm, you'll be able to determine what patches you need to install on the source farm.
