Can't access WSUS console (windows 2012R2)

Hi,

I ran all the windows the Windows updates on our Windows 2012R2 WSUS server on Friday and all seemed fine after a reboot. Today (Monday) I can't access the console as it access to connect to a WSUS server, I've tried the IP, DNS and loopback address which all fail.

In the event logs I see this:

Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE'. Reason: Failed to open the explicitly specified database 'SUSDB'. [CLIENT: <named pipe>]

Has any one seen this? I read KB3148812 should be uninstalled but I don't seem to have it installed.

Found this that has helped:

"C:\Program Files\Update Services\Tools\wsusutil.exe" postinstall /servicing

Not sure what it does or whether it will permanently help.

Hi TB303,

It may due to you have installed KB3159706 on the WSUS server, after installing KB3159706, we need to do manual steps list in the link provided by "Winfried", if not, WSUS console will crash.

If you have win10 clients, I would also recommend installing KB3095113 on the WSUS server. To support win10 clients, we need to install both KB3095113 and KB3159706.
