The domain is not available message when logging in RRS feed

  • Question

  • When replacing a XP SP3 computer on the domain everything is fine until a reboot. After rebooting no one is able to log in to the computer except for the local administrator. Adding new XP SP3 computers (they have new names) to the domain do not have this problem. We are in a Windows 2000, XP. 7, Server 2000, 2003, and 2008 environment.

Another thing is that these computers do not show up in Active Directory.

    How do I fix this?

    rejoin them to the domain?

There are scripts out there to do this easily on xp change the str domain and password and user to what yours is to join the domain. and run it, this is a vbs script

    Const JOIN_DOMAIN = 1 Const ACCT_CREATE = 2 Const ACCT_DELETE = 4 Const WIN9X_UPGRADE = 16 Const DOMAIN_JOIN_IF_JOINED = 32 Const JOIN_UNSECURE = 64 Const MACHINE_PASSWORD_PASSED = 128 Const DEFERRED_SPN_SET = 256 Const INSTALL_INVOCATION = 262144 strDomain = "" strPassword = "" strUser = "" Set objNetwork = CreateObject("WScript.Network") strComputer = objNetwork.ComputerName Set objComputer = _ GetObject("winmgmts:{impersonationLevel=Impersonate}!\\" & _ strComputer & "\root\cimv2:Win32_ComputerSystem.Name='" _ & strComputer & "'") ReturnValue = objComputer.JoinDomainOrWorkGroup(strDomain, _ strPassword, _ strDomain & "\" & strUser, _ NULL , _ JOIN_DOMAIN + ACCT_CREATE) 'returnvalue = 0 if succesfully joined domain wscript.echo ReturnValue

  • This problem is continuing with your Window 7 machines. We are getting the error message "The security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship". No one can sign in except for the local administarator.

  • This script will be useful instead of me doing it manually all the time.
