Playbooks tool-restoring to new URL RRS feed

  • Question

  • Project Server 2010 - I have successfully been using Playbooks to keep our Dev and Test environments in synch. We are getting ready to move to production in the same domain, different servers, and I tried restoring the Test configuration but get an error and the operation aborts:

"Restoring pdp server settings; could not locate pwa instance, pwa may be located on remote server"

    Test is projectserver-test.xxx.com

    Production is projectserver.xxx.com

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

  • Then I'd say open the Playbooks XML file in Excel and see if anything looks
funny.  I assume you're aware that EPT's choke when the template is attached
    - although it doesn't sound like that is the issue.

  • To restore the Workflow, EPT, and PDP settings, you must be running Playbooks
    on the server itself.

Not sure that's the problem, but it's the most likely culprit.  See Alex
Burton's post on the topic if you suspect that's the issue:

  • Thanks but I am on the server, already knew about that one..:)

Also, I have checked the usual suspects such as hosts file, security permissions, etc.

  • Andrew,

I was aware but had forgotten. That was the problem. I deleted the EPT's from the backup and the restore worked fine on the other server.

    Thanks!
