How to remove ADMX files from the Cetral Store

    Question

  • Hi

We are about to standardise our infrastructure on Office 2016.  I'm also in the process of tidying up Group Policy and want to get rid of the earlier versions.

Is this just a matter of deleting the .admx files from the Central Store?

    Thanks
    Tony

  • Hi,

Basically, ADMX files are just a template and deletion of template will not affect anything to the existing infrastructure.

You'll need to take ownership of the files, and then grant permissions to yourself (or the Administrators Local group), and then you'll be able to delete the files.

  • Yes it is.

You need to give yourself authority to delete.
