How to make a subnet for DHCP and one for fixed IP adress RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Until now I've had one subnet (192.168.2.0/24 ) but I only have 10 IP adresses left on this one.
So Iam trying to create a new subnet ( 192.168.3.0/24 ).

My question is how to make the 2.0 net to only allow fixed/determined IP adresses for servers, workstations, VoIP and Security cameras. Should I set determined through each workstation or can I determine this with MAC on the Server?
I want all the guest, laptops, TVs and smartphones on the new subnet 3.0.

At the moment all devices are still in 2.0 although I activated the 3.0.

You could set reservations bingding with MAC  address.

You could  set a DHCP relay agent(IP Helper) on switch. It is easier to manage the  network .Which is separating the server and client by the swtich.
