DPM 2010 > DPM 2012 Upgrade fails RRS feed

  • Question

  • Posting only because I'm at a total loss as to why this upgrade is failing.

Background my first upgrade attempt attempt from DPM 2010 to DPM 2012 failed so armed with my backup of the DPM database I did the following:

    • Fresh install of Windows 2008 R2
    • Patched Windows 2008 R2 to the eyeballs
    • Installed DPM 2010 using Local Database option
    • Applied Roll up Update 1
    • Applied DataProtectionManager2010-KB2615782
    • Ran DPMSync -RestoreDb -DbLoc c:\DPMDB.BAK
    • Ran DPMSync -Sync
    • DPM Looks good it working, see's my iSCSI volumes, everything looks good apart from the protection groups failing (hey it just got restored)
    • Now, Run the DPM 2012 Installer, Select local SQL Option, everything validates, runs through installation, installed SQL 2008 R2 and fails somewhere after deleting reports in the installer..

Now I'm pretty sure this is as fresh as you can get before a clean install, I could really do with a hand, the error logs shows nothing obvious, just after adding the firewall exceptions it chucks this:

    [03/05/2012 20:59:16] Information : ReEnableAllLibraries

  • This got escalated to the Product Team in the end, apologies there was no resolution other than to rebuild the box, restore the DPM database and re-attempt the upgrade.
