MDT 8443 & ADK 1703 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

The question I have is most likely very simple but since I'm fairly new to MDT and ADK, I struggle to understand my problem.

I have MDT 8443 along with Windows ADK for Windows 10, version 1703 installed on my deployment server.

I can deploy Windows 10 as well as Windows Server 2016 just fine, but I always seem to run in to issues when trying to deploy Windows Server 2012 R2. Without posting any details, I just wonder if there's a simple answer like - Oh, you can deploy 2012 using this version of ADK and you need to do XY & Z to achieve this.

Is this due to wrong version of MDT/ADK which is designed to only support the latest OS? How do you successfully deploy variety of operating systems such as Windows Server 2012/16 and Windows 7/10 in your environment?

  • You should use MDT 8443 and WADK 10 version 1703 to deploy Windows 2012 R2. I am not aware of specific steps for this OS. What is the error you get?

MDT 8443 supports OS from Windows 7 and later (see https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=54259)

  • I just managed to deploy Windows Server 2012 R2 with no issues using MDT 8443 and WADK 10 v1703. I am sure I had some weird issues before, but seems to work now. Thanks for your help! :)
