my lenovo ideapad z500 will not do windows updates. Why?

  • My ideapad will not update and now has approx. 164 to do. it looks like it is installing but then on the restart it reverts back to previous settings.

    Have you got any error messages? What happened when you check for updates manually?

    Please take the following step to have a troubleshoot, if there is any antivirus software installed ,please turn them off temporarily to have a check:

    1.Open an administrator command line and run "dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth" to check the health of system files.
    2.Run the built-in troubleshoot tool to have a diagnostic:
     Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting\All Categories\Windows Update.
    3.Clear the windows update cache.
     net stop wuauserv
      cd %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution
      ren Download Download.old
      net start wuauserv
      Restart the machine and manually check for updates again
    4.Try the fixit tool to reset Windows update Components

    If the issue persists, please check the Event Viewer (Event Viewer \Windows Logs \Application, System, Setup )and the "Windowsupdate.log" (Search it directly) for more information to troubleshoot this issue.
