Windows seven authenticity RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, I bought two refurbished Siemens Fujitsu lifebook about a year ago. they are both windows 7 but one recently upgraded to windows 10. About four months ago one of them start getting a pop-up saying you may be a victim of software counterfeit. It asked for my product key, as it is a refurbished laptop it wasn't on the machine. So after a while of trying to figure out my product key I got it. I entered it and  it said "A problem occurred when Windows tried to activate. Error Code OxCOO4FO74, For a possible resolution, click More Information. ". When I clicked More Information it said this “Code OxCOO4FO74 Description: The Software Licensing Service reported that the computer could not be activated, No Key Management Service (KMS) could be contacted. Please see the Application Event Log for additional information. “ I have tryed a million times and this is all that comes up. I have looked up this error code but to no avail.

I dont believe the software is counterfeit as I bought two at the same time and one is running perfectly.  Please help me find a solution to this as every hour i get an annoying pop-up that resets all my settings(homescreen, backround etc.) If any other information is needed i will be glad to give it.

  • Yes that is a volume key that unless you are in a corporate environment is bogus.  KMS keys rely on contacting a specific server once every 3 months and lock up if they cant.

You are going to need to get a legit key

  • The product key is a generic key for KMS (Key Management Service) installation. Refer the link for more information:

    http://blogs.technet.com/b/hectorl/archive/2009/07/20/windows-7-and-windows-server-2008-r2-volume-activation-deployment-guide-published.aspx

Search for the last three block of the product keys, J8D7P-XQJJ2-GPDD4, and you can see the complete product key.

The license is being offered by the KMS server to the PC. This is a scenario in corporate environments, as Team Zigzag says, and not available for individual users. Hence, you need to purchase a new Windows 10 license to resolve the issue. Further, if you see the same set of product keys being used in the other PC, make sure you purchase a new license for that PC too.

  • That key is for a volume license not a personal computer.  You can run this to find if it is authentic

To properly analyze and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the diagnostic report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop -http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once downloaded, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, after a short time, the Continue button will change to a Copy button.
Click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your post.
