SharePoint 2010 and 2013 Monitoring RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

We recently imported the SharePoint 2010 and 2013 management pack in our new SCOM environment. We configured the configuration file, run as account and distributed it to the SharePoint computers. The administration task ran successfully on both. For SharePoint 2013, a few servers were discovered, However there are still some machines missing.

In SharePoint 2010, the computers on which the run as account was distributed are not showing in the unidentified machines state view. As a result, there aren't any servers in the state view. There isn't any error witnessed as of now.

Any suggestions why this is happening. Appreciate your support.

  • Are you using SCOM 2016? In that case SharePoint 2010 is no longer supported. I created a support ticket some time ago and got the SharePoint 2010 mp is not supported with SCOM 2016, and there are currently no plans for an upgrade.

  • Check the event viewer on of the SharePoint servers for errors and make sure the account you are using is SPShellAdmin (Add-SPShellAdmin -username DOMAIN\YourUser).

  • Hi Guys,

We checked and found that the SCOM account has the SPShell Admin rights as well. There are still a few servers missing from the view. We checked the servers. Interestingly, we found that there are a couple of machines having SharePoint component installed and services running. Still, these are not reflecting in the SharePoint Management Pack view.

On the other hand, there are around 10-13 machines which do not have any SharePoint component installed nor any SharePoint service running. These are not showing in the sharepoint servers view.

I find this a bit strange. Request you to share you valuable inputs and help me.

    Appreciate your support.

  • Does the initial-Discovery-Task "Configure SharePint Management Pack" give you some Output about the discovery / any Errors?

in our case, the defined run-as-account for the SharePoint-mp has to be member of the scom-security-user-role "Administrator". Otherwise it seems, the account has insufficient rights to do the Task well

    according to:

    http://www.networksteve.com/forum/topic.php/Configure_the_Share_Point_2013_Management_Pack/?TopicId=45227&Posts=1

(the description is for the SP2013-MP, but the configuration-steps are pretty the same as in the SP2010-MP)

    another Input:

we are Monitoring two different SharePoint-Farms. for each Farm, we use a separate SCOM RunAs-Profile!

A Good Troubleshooting-Guide is also here available:
