PWA - Cannot edit Actual Start and Actual Finish in PWA browser RRS feed

  • Question

  • As title suggests, I cannot edit Actual Start and Actual Finish when editing project in PWA (browser).

However, opening project in ms project desktop client allows to edit the field manually by selecting the date in calendar.

Not sure if it's a setting that I need to check or default-by-design.

    Please help ?

  • Hi,

How did you proceed exactly? I just tried this and it works correctly:

    • open a project from the project center
    • select the "schedule" page
    • check-out the project
    • select the task tracking view
    • update the actual start date on a task
    • for example, mark the task as complete, it will update the actual finish date
    • save and publish

    Hope this helps,

  • same steps with yours above.

Actually since you mention it now, I figure the difference between editing Actual Finish in Ms project versus editing in PWA is in PWA we have to mark task as complete (or 100% percent complete) and Actual Finish will copy whatever date we have in Finish column. Whereas in ms project, you can manually set the date in Actual Finish, and Finish column will copy the same date.
    Got it now.
    Thanks Guillaume !

  • Just to clarify, you can also edit the actual finish date in PWA/schedule. It depends on what information you have in your hands to update the task. I just tried and it works. You can update the actual finish date and PWA will mark the task as complete and calculate the actual finish date based on the task information (predecessor, constraints etc...).

    Hope this helps,

  • from my browser, in PWA/schedule I can't change the date in Actual Finish column: cannot enter anything (versus other columns such as Start, Finish it will display a little calendar icon to allow me to update the date manually).

But if I follow your steps, updating the percent % of the task will update the Actual Finish to be the same date we currently have in Finish column.

    unless I'm missing something..
