Customize Vista Login Screen RRS feed

  • Question

  • How does one change the login screen.  Specifically do two thing: 1) completely remove the user account picture, frame and all (it is still wanted at the start menu please, no change there) and 2) reposition the user and password dialog boxes (with their associated labels and buttons) so they aren't smack dab in the center of the image used for background. I'm not sure what other elements can be added/removed from the login screen, but an inventory and tutorial on how to position/reposition these attributes would be useful.

These components are not configurable, by default.

There are reputable third party software companies who make programs that can configure some of these components, but these are not supported by Microsoft and using them could, at worst, render the system unbootable.
