Windows server 2012 share permissions RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello everyone,

I've created a fileserver with several shares. On some of the shared folders I set the permissions to everyone.

This server is in another domain than the users, but there's a trust between these domains.

Whenever my users connect, they get asked to provide credentials. If they provide their own domain credentials they can access those shares without a problem.

Is there any way that I can disable that users need to enter credentials for folders that are meant for everyone?

  • Seems the trust is not working fine. You may try to reconnect the trusty and see if the problem could be fixed.

  • maybe I misrepresented my goal with the trust.

I want that on a folder where everyone has access to, no one needs to enter a username/password. Even people/devices that are outside both domains (but still in the internal network).

When I try with server that's not in the domain, it still asks for credentials.
