Who can access Project Sites in Project Online RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

To access Project Sites in Project Online, do users need to have Project Online License? Or SharePoint Online license is enough?

Requirement here is, sharepoint online users just want to access project sites and view information. And not going to anything with project plan.

    Thanks, Ram

  • Hi Ram,

The rule has been made pretty clear by Microsoft:

    • If the user accesses Project data on the project site, he does need at least a Project Lite licence (or Project Online licence). By "Project data", I mean all that is stored in the Project DB such as tasks sync'd with the project, issues, risks and deliverables. As soon as the project sites contains one of those data, the user needs a Project Lite licence.
    • But if you create a project site template without the task list, risk/issue/deliveables (because you are not using them), then a Sharepoint Online licence is enought.
