Application icons not showing in console RRS feed

  • Question

  • Does anyone see application icons in the Configuration Manager console? There's an "Icons" column as if this is an intended feature, but it always shows the generic application icon. This is really annoying as I can't check applications icons unless I find a machine the application is deployed to and check Software Center.

Is this a known issue? Is there some way to resolve it?

  • No I think that's just the way the GUI has been designed and its been like that since Day 1. When you specify an Application icon within an Application, that icon is stored and accessed by the Web Application Catalogue Web Service Point Role in a folder somewhere, its not embedded in Configuration Manager (as far as I know) and thus not used or displayed by the Console accept in the Application itself.

You can check an Applications icon using the Console by right clicking on it choosing Properties and then selecting the Application Catalog tab - but I'm guessing you already know that (maybe)!

The icon is stored in the policy and is not shown in the admin console
