SharePoint URL does not rewrite properly in NLB clustered environment when using full path with .aspx at the end RRS feed

  • Question

  • I had server-1 as the only SharePoint/Project server.  I then added server-2 to the farm and setup NLB using multicast mode with the cluster name being SP, also modified AAM entries to allow for access using any of these 3 names.  When users got to http://server-1/pwa the URL gets rewritten to http://SP/pwa/default.aspx but when they go to http://server-1/pwa/default.aspx it wont rewrite, can I set it up so it always rewrites to SP, no matter how long the path (I tried using the built in IIS rewrite module but could not get it to work with it).

  • did you also start the service for the SharePoint Web application to run on http://SP? serve?

did you update the IIS to pick up the DNS names in IIS?  they should match with AAM.

Is the NLB a hardware or software?  I assume it is switching to different IP addresses  versus DNS names.  How is NLB configured.   Provide more details.

How are you determining that the rewrite is not occurring?
