  • Hi,

"Test-ExchangeSearch" command is used to check the index statue of your database.

Does the "Inactive" a name that your modified? Do you mean that this is a passive database for a DAG?

I want to confirm with you, what is the result of the command below for your database?

    Get-MailboxDatabaseCopyStatus

If the index state is "healthy", you don't need to worry about the index for this database. If this value isn't "healthy', you can take steps below to bring it to healthy:

    1. Stop the “Microsoft Exchange Search service” and well as the “Microsoft Exchange Host Controller.”

    2. Delete the Existing CI catalog folder(V15\Mailbox\databaseName\***.single) or move it to a new location.

    3. Start the “Microsoft Exchange Search service” and the “Microsoft Exchange Host Controller” services.

If this database is a member of a DAG, you can use command below for it:

    Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy -Identity DB1\MBX1 -CatalogOnly

    Kyle Xu
