  • Question

  • I have installed all my latest graphics drivers.. but my sleep option is still greyed out! I cannot even enable the hibernate option!

When I type "powercfg /Hibernate ON" in CMD , I get this error :-

" Hibernation failed with the following error: The request is not supported.

The following items are preventing hibernation on this system.

There are one or more legacy drivers installed:

    GenPort2 "

How can I fix this? please help me out

  • Hi,

According to the error received, this issue was caused by genport2 file. Genport is usually installed by some old music related software. They are legacy drivers for outputting MIDI sound through your PC speaker. If you have these programs on your machine, please remove them.

You can also try reinstalling the sound card driver:

    1. Click the Start button, type DEVMGMT.MSC and press Enter.

    2. Expand the Sound, video and Game controller, right click on the Sound card and choose Uninstall.

    3. Check the box to uninstall the driver software. Click OK.

Restart the computer and check if the issue is resolved.
