The installation process cannot be started RRS feed

  • I have windows server 2012 datacenter with hyper-v role that I tried to upgrade to R2 RTM.

    All went fine until the reboot and the error "windows cannot start the installation process"

    I can start windows server 2012

    I must say that I used a ISO file using DRAC for the install

  • Hi,

    This issue may be related to some potential problem in the disk or BIOS or faulty hardware. The BIOS sometimes limits the read/write scope of boot sectors, to avoid virus attack. 
    I recommend you check the BIOS setting on your computer. If there’s any Anti-Virus settings, please disable it and then start the install again to see if the issue persists. 

    Please also try to use Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool to perform a memory check on the computers to determine whether the issue is caused by failing hardware, such as RAM or the memory system. You can run “mdsched” to open Memory Diagnostics Tool.

  • The machine is a dell poweredge 720 xd that is using

    uefi should i disable that?

    memory problems would have been detected

    by builtin hardware monitoring.
