Resource planning dilemma RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a project sheet which contains many tasks and sub tasks

For a reason the sub-tasks are named to the resource group that should fulfill the work.

The amount of work has been filled in for all sub tasks as well as the priority for all tasks/sub-tasks

As a result of this, I want to get a planning for all tasks and sub-tasks, where the priority should be taken into account, as well as the available resources.

So I should be able to create an overview where I can see when all tasks will be finished and all tasks will be executed in the correct order (priority from high to low)

As all tasks/sub-tasks are prioritized, do I still need to link all project ? or can I use the leveling feature where all tasks/sub-tasks will be placed in the correct order ?

What should I do to get the required overview ?

  • Hi,

Indeed you could use leveling after setting the task priorities.

For the dependencies, you should create some if needed. For example, a task might have a higher priority but requires that a task with lower priority has been done before. So in this case, you should have a dependency because it would be more important than the priority.

    Hope this helps,
