USB transfer rate slow after installing Windows 7 SP1
Question
-
I installed SP1 for Windows 7 64bit a few days ago and every single one of my USB devices takes almost an hour to copy 2gb of data. I did not have this issue prior to installing SP1 everything was clean and fast. I have a total of 7 USB ports and every one has the same crawling slow transfer rates no matter what type of file I transfer.
Anyone have a solution to this?

the SP1 is maybe the cause. it doesn't update the drivers. Run the fixes from here to get the Sp1 USB drivers installed:

The 7601usbfix looks like it fixed 3 of the usb ports. I still have a storage controller not working properly that went awry the same time the USB ports did.

Remove as in Uninstall correct? After they are uninstalled just run a Windows Update?

yes, uninstall. Next make a reboot. Windows detects it again and install the drivers.

Have you found any sort of solution to this as yet? I am experiencing the same problem as you and I too did install the SP1 update only 2 weeks ago. I did not have this issue prior to installing SP1 everything was clean and fast. I am also having the same problem. I have an Intel D915GMH mother board with Intel (not nVidia) chip sets.
I can use the exact same hardware and ports to copy the exact same data at high speed, if I boot from a Linux Mint DVD.
Windows 7 used to be able to sync my USB sticks at high speed, but at some point a year ago or so Win 7 got super slow -- 10x slower! My USB hard drives seem to perform OK using the same ports. I can't say for sure it coincided with service pak 1 my updates install automagically without notifications. I know that's not good, but with so many MS updates it just easier than hours of MS update investigations.
I too see all sort of threads on this matter and I have posted my own and on others, hoping somebody has figured it out. Still no answers.
