SCCM2007 Migration to SCCM2012 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

We have SCCM 2007 SP2+FEP2010 and we are going to migrate to SCCM2012+FEP2012, SCCM2012 already installed and used the same site code and same site name. And when going to create a migration job and adding the hierarchy from the existing SCCM2007 it is saying Failed (Duplicated site code with current hierarchy), that is mean I cannot use the same site code! Now if there is a way to change the site code after installing of SCCM2012? OR I have to re-install with different site code?

    thank you

  • Correct, you CANNOT use the same site code. You need to reinstall the CM2012 site. Always keep site codes Unique.

  • before starting with the migration you should have already configured the SCCM 2012 minimally.

I'm assuming you haven't yet configured any discovery methods?

as for the boundaries also, just enable forest discovery and you should get them

  • that's OK, to migrate the clients you need to enable Endoint Protection in in client settings. I would prefer to create a new custom Client Settings where I enable SCEP. If you enable SCEP in the default Setting, all clients will get SCEP 2012 installed.

I created new client sittings and selected End Point Protection, but when I try to modify I found all siitings for SCEP are grayed and install FEP on clients is switched to true? also it is true in the Default sittings. but still no SCCM2012 installed on any clients also no SCEP installed on any clients?

  • You need to install the Endpoint Protection site system role first.

  • I installed Endpoint Protection site system role already also the modification for FEP still grayed? also for SCCM2012 clients, I don't know if I missed any other configurations, what exactly need to be done for SCC2012 clients to start remove the existing SCCM2007 and install SCC2012 client?

  • in order for clients with a 2007 agent to become 2012, you just need to push the 2012 agent and they will be upgraded.

what do you mean exactly by: 'the modification still grayed'?
