Outlook - Update VCS file creates appointment with incorrect time zone/DST offsets in detail view - (Calendar Day/Week/Month view correct) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am experiencing an issue with DST/TimeZone offsets for appointments that are imported into Outlook 2016 via vcs files. The first file imported successfully sets up a recurring daily schedule with DST and TimeZone information. Its contents can be seen below:

    BEGIN:VCALENDAR
    PRODID:-//Meeting Maker//Resource Scheduler MIMEDIR//EN
    VERSION:2.0
    METHOD:REQUEST

    BEGIN:VTIMEZONE
    TZID:Romance Standard Time

    BEGIN:DAYLIGHT
    DTSTART:20180325T020000
    TZOFFSETFROM:+0200
    TZOFFSETTO:+0100
    END:DAYLIGHT

    BEGIN:STANDARD
    DTSTART:20181028T030000
    TZOFFSETFROM:+0100
    TZOFFSETTO:+0200
    END:STANDARD

    END:VTIMEZONE

    BEGIN:VEVENT
    ATTENDEE;ROLE=REQ-PARTICIPANT;RSVP=TRUE:MAILTO:qa@jcdev.com
    ORGANIZER;CN="jcrowther@as.com":MAILTO:jcrowther@as.com

    DTSTART;TZID="Romance Standard Time":20180604T100000
    DTEND;TZID="Romance Standard Time":20180604T110000
    RRULE:FREQ=DAILY;UNTIL=20180608T110000;INTERVAL=1
    CATEGORIES:RS
    RESOURCES:CONF 1;
    LOCATION:
    TRANSP:OPAQUE
    SUMMARY:TEST MEET
    UID:-1999999106

    DTSTAMP:20180315T145500Z

    PRIORITY:3
    END:VEVENT

    END:VCALENDAR

A second vcs file is then imported into Outlook which updates an instance of the recurring series set up by the above file using the REQUEST method. The update changes the start time of one instance from 10AM to 11.10 AM. The contents of the second file are as such:

    BEGIN:VCALENDAR
    PRODID:-//Meeting Maker//Resource Scheduler MIMEDIR//EN
    VERSION:2.0
    METHOD:REQUEST

    BEGIN:VTIMEZONE
    TZID:Romance Standard Time

    BEGIN:DAYLIGHT
    DTSTART:20180325T020000
    TZOFFSETFROM:+0200
    TZOFFSETTO:+0100
    END:DAYLIGHT

    BEGIN:STANDARD
    DTSTART:20181028T030000
    TZOFFSETFROM:+0100
    TZOFFSETTO:+0200
    END:STANDARD

    END:VTIMEZONE

    BEGIN:VEVENT
    ATTENDEE;ROLE=REQ-PARTICIPANT;RSVP=TRUE:MAILTO:qa@jcdev.com
    ORGANIZER;CN="jcrowther@as.com":MAILTO:jcrowther@as.com

    DTSTART;TZID="Romance Standard Time":20180606T111000
    DTEND;TZID="Romance Standard Time":20180606T123000

    CATEGORIES:RS
    RESOURCES:CONF 1;
    LOCATION:
    TRANSP:OPAQUE
    SUMMARY:TEST BOUNCE
    UID:-1999999106
    RECURRENCE-ID;TZID="Romance Standard Time":20180606T100000

    DTSTAMP:20180315T150100Z
    PRIORITY:3
    END:VEVENT

    END:VCALENDAR

When the above file is imported into outlook, the correct instance or the recurring series is modified and the adjustment can be seen in the Outlook Calendar Day/Week/Month view:

However when the instance is opened to see its details the start time and end time are offset by one hour:

TIMEZONE and DST information is contained in the 2 VCS files.

This issue is not present when importing these files into Goodle Calendar.

Any help or pointers on getting this resolved for Outlook 2016 would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

  • Hi Jude Crowther,

Have you checked whether the appointment shows correctly on the web mail?

Does this issue happen to this specific appointment or all appointments imported via .vcs files?

We could try clearing offline files of your Calendar to refresh your Calendar. To do this, please right click your Calendar and then choose Properties. Under general tab, click Clear Offline Items.

Any updates, please post back at ease.

    Regards,

    Perry
