Change Advanced Sharing -> Homegroup Connections option programmatically RRS feed

  • Question

  • I was wondering if it is possible to programmatically change the Advanced Sharing -> Homegroup connections option? I would like to run a script to set it to "Use User account and passwords to connect to other computers".

I have looked around at different registry settings and the group policy editor and haven't found it yet.

    Appreciate the input. Much thanks.

Answers

  • The answer is to change

    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Homegroup\AlwaysStuffAlphaCreds DWORD to 0

It might also be found under

    HKU\{SID}\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Homegroup\AlwaysStuffAlphaCreds

I ran process monitor from sys internals and parsed on the RegSetValue operation to find it.
