  • Question

  • Hi I'm using Project 2007.

I'm trying to create a resource pool...

I was wondering if we could group resources?

    Something like this perhaps:

    HR Division
     Employee 1
     Employee 2
     Employee 3

    Marketing Division
     Employee 1
     Employee 2
     Employee 3

I want the resources to be organized by division.. Is there a way to do this?

Of course, simply set up your resources by name in the Name field on the Resource Sheet and then enter HR or Marketing in the Group field for each resource.

But maybe that's not quite what you mean. Another way to use group resources is to identify a group of resources by function. To use your example, you have two resources, HR and Marketing. Each group has three individuals but you don't really care which particular employee is assigned to any given task so you assign HR or Marketing to a task. You set the Max Units for each resource at 300%. That simply means that when you assign HR to a task, it can be anywhere from 0 to 3 equivalent people assigned to that task.

    Hope this helps.
