Answers

  • Hi,

Atlast we fixed the issue , couple things happened in AD in our org.

    1. Enterprise RUS pointing to decommisoned the domain controller , we changed it to working one

    2.  Few DC's having lingering objects making DC's to fail.

After we fix those issuses , we able to close the issues.

  • Service Account?

You shouldn't be running Exchange services under a service account, it should be running under Local Service only.

Change it to the correct type of account and restart all services.

The GAL is a domain thing, not an Exchange thing. Are you sure that you don't mean the OAB?

  • Simon,

Exchange 2003 and 2007 services are running with local service only.

We know the GAL is domain thing , we are able to see user namein AD console , but not in Exchange GAL.... it is not showing in  Online mode itself .. so no matter with OAB ... :-(

  • So what password did you change?

Has there been an attempt to change anything in the Address lists? I have never seen the scenario you are explaining before, which would tend to point at someone has fiddled with the configuration in some way, that means the servers cannot read the information.

Exchange doesn't really care about where the user is located, if they are mail enabled then they should appear in the GAL. Does the same thing occur in OWA?

Have you run the EXBPA against the environment?

    Simon.
