How to password protect Power Query queries? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'd like to have the user only be able to see the final query output in PowerPivot data model, but hide the queries from them.

Is there a way to password protect the queries, but still allow the users to connect to and refresh the query?

  • As far as I can tell this behavior is intrinsic to Power Pivot and is not specific to Power Query. I'm not aware of any alternatives, but you could try posting the question to the Power Pivot forum in case anybody has any insights there.

  • If you were using Power Query only, you could use "Protect Workbook Structure" to do exactly this.

But for some reason, the refresh will not work if the query results are loaded to Power Pivot.

Anyone knowing why that is and if there is an alternative?
