LargeSystemCache and Size RRS feed

  • Question

  • Using both Windows 7 and Windows XP with windows share. We get the Event 2017 problem "The server was unable to allocate from the system nonpaged pool because the server reached the configured limit for nonpaged pool allocations". Done the usual googling and found articles that suggest to change LargeSystemCache and Size. The article says that this only applies to WinXP and Windows Server 2003.

Does that mean LargeSystemCache is not used in Windows 7? Is Size used both in Windows XP and Windows 7?

It would be a major change to the operationg system to change these parameters. Where can I find more detailed description of the option settings(Minimize memory used, Balance, Maximize data throughput for file sharing, Maximize data throughput for network applications)?

  • Hi,

It should also could be used in Windows 7, as we can still find the registry value in Windows 7.

    HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management

I also found another blog that talk about increase the performance of disk cache in Windows 7.

    http://en.kioskea.net/faq/7106-windows-7-increase-the-performance-of-disk-cache

Here is another link teach us how to Optimize Memory Configuration:

  • Hi,

As far as I know, there is no document like you said, because these data should managed by application not system itself.
