License of Microsoft 9.1 for companies with MSDN aka Gold Partners RRS feed

  • Question

  • My Company is a Gold Certified Partner of Microsoft and if I am not mistaken we have MSDN licensing structure. I am not sure how R Server 9.1 fits this whole equation? Obviously we use SQL for everything backend and I am sure we have SQL 2014 Enterprise license. Can I just upgrade it to 2016 and install 9.1 on PROD boxes? Should I get brand-new license outside MSDN? Again some link suggest we need SQL license to use (PROD boxes) 9.1. But during installation it never asks for proper license. How can I buy a license and add it to the installation or somewhere in Registry so that It works seemlessly.

Answers

  • we can download the product using MSDN license for development. But for Production SQL 2016 is required. Also, Microsoft is releasing R server Template for Govt. Azure and that will help us a lot.
