Finish Variance calculations do not match RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am working in Microsoft project server and have created a custom field, "Schedule risk" that is a simple calculation using the Finish Variance Field. For the "Calculation For Summary Rows" I have selected, "Use formula". for the Calculation of Assignment Rows, I have selected "roll down, unless manually specified".

the issue I am having is when I compare the Finish variance in this custom field with the Finish variance in my custom report. In this case, my Finish Variance from my custom field calculates out to 14.3 days behind schedule. However, the finish date from my custom report calculates out to 27 days behind schedule.  How do I get these two fields to match?

  • Hi,

you did not provide the formula. I assume you are using DateDiff rather than ProjDateDiff? Only the latter will take non-working days into account and calculate in the same way as Project does. Please try

    ProjDateDiff([Baseline Finish],[Finish],[Project Calendar])

If this is still not working, please let us know the formula you are using.

  • Hi Barb -

Thanks for your reply. The formula I am using is [Finish Variance].
