File Dispatch Manager problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've noticed in one of our site system server running with a management point that the outbox is queuing up. When I looked at the primary on the mpfdm.log I see this error:

A connection can not be made for ["Display=\\host.domain.com\"]MSWNET:["SMS_SITE=SC1"]\\host.domain.com\ because one already exits to \\host.domain.com\ADMIN$

If I restart the SMS_MP_FILE_DISPATCH_MANAGER component in the primary everything works again then after a random period of time the error above shows up again. The primary is in a different domain than the site system server and is running on PULL mode and using a service account to connect. The service account is fine as its able to connect and process the files initially but then just stops working.

We are running SCCM 2012 SP1.

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

From the log, it seems the site server already has a connection to the default shared folder on the site system so that the MP File Dispatch Manager cannot establish a new connection.

Can you please close the connection on the Site System and see whether it works. If no go, let's try to reinstall MP and make sure "Site server to initiate connections to this site system" option is checked.

  • "close the connection on the site system" I mean close the connection on the MP.

You may open Computer Management=>Shared Folders=>Session, you will see the active session, please close it and see whether it works.

  • Thanks for the response.

When I restart the File Dispatch Manager component service its able to access the share again and processes the outbox. What do you mean "close the connection on the site system?" What other connections should I worry about?

I've reinstalled the MP already and we do have the "site server to initiate connection to this site system" option checked from the beginning yet the problem persists.
