Cannot install SP2 for Project Server 2010 after SP2 for SharePoint 2010 has been installed RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    One of our clients had a SharePoint 2010 farm with Project Server 2010 installed. They installed SP2 for SharePoint but not for Project Server.  They now need to install SP2 for Project Server but when they run the Project Server SP2 installation package they receive the following message;

    I have tried to find a workaround and am hoping it can be done but is there a way to install the Project Server 2010 SP2 updates only.  I hesitate trying to uninstall SP2 as I know the results can be unpredictable and the client does not really want to rebuild the environment.

    Any idea's, thoughts or help are greatly appreciated and please let me know if there is any details that are needed.

  • I am assuming that you are applying the SP2 on the front ends and project is not running there. If you have project service is running on the middle tier, try applying the patch on this server first and see if it continues.

    Cheers!

  • cmrsutherland,

    Hey there - if SharePoint 2010 SP2 is already installed you could install just the Project Server SP2 bits from here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2687452

    Cheers,
