SteadyState preventing a new browser window opening RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have an internal booking website, not designed by me, which Steadystate has set to Explorers' default.

However, when a link is clicked on, instead of opening the .PDF, in a new window, it gives message:

This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer.
    Please contact your system administrator"

Adobe Acrobat is added to the allowed applications in the left hand pane of setup.

If the web page is viewed on a pc without SteadyState, there are no errors, & it opens the .PDF in a new browser window as expected.

I'm at a loss on how to continue.

  • Hi Jon Arnold, I tried to re-produce the issue and the issue did not occur on a fully restricted user. However, I suggest you temporarily elevate the user to administrator, disable all restrictions and try to view the pdf file. Once this is done, change the user to standard or restricted user, enable the restrictions in Windows SteadyState and see the result.

    Hope this helps!
