Hyper-V private network on two physical host servers RRS feed

  • Question

  • I want to create a hyper-v test environment, but my test servers aren't beefy enough to add all the machines I want configure to be on one host. I want to setup a private network so that my test servers dont interfere with my production network. I have done this before using the "private" network feature in hyper-v, but im not sure how this would work when using to two host servers? the virtual machines on the two host servers would need to be able to talk to each other.

    Thanks in advance!

  • There is a specific Hyper-V forum here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/winserverhyperv/threads/

That said, you just need to think of this in terms of physical computers.  How would you connect to computers together and keep them off your production network?  Same goes here.  Separate NICs on a separate subnet or segment, loopback cable, etc.

A Hyper-V private network is internal only, so you can't use that between machines.
