SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 Parent Site ReplicationMaintanence RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear Experts,

    My SCCM environment:

    •   07 Servers (01 CAS and 06 Primary sites)
    •   Upgraded the CAS server alone to SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 from 2012 R2 RTM
    •   Using Local SQL server and WSUS Server.

Once the CAS server is upgraded to SCCM 2012 R2 SP1, the replication link broken with primary sites, So couldn't upgrade the Primary Sites. Followed the below article to initialize the manual replica on one of the Primary sites, Global data's are replicating but site data's are not.

Parent site status is Replication maintanence

  • Troubleshooting Site replications are vast subject and may take longer time to solve using forum help and they cannot simply be done using forums help unless you post useful information from the logs but again, this issue is happening with major upgrade (R2 to SP1) ,would suggest to connect with Microsoft support for solution.

For Site Restores, I always recommend that you open a support case with CSS. Particularly when you have a CAS, as this mean you clearly have over 150,000 computer and if you have 6 Primary site it must mean you have over 300, 000 devices.

This is not a simple process and as such, Forums are not the way to get this fixed.

  • Hi Garth,

We have only 15K clients in above environment, but they have designed bit complex.

  • Hi Garth,

We have only 15K clients in above environment, but they have designed bit complex.

That is bad design (IMO) and you really need to look at considering the simple hierarchy for 15K clients to avoid future issues during the Current branch updates . Unless you have higher clients as said by Garth ,you really dont need CAS and it avoid other administrative efforts.

Coming to the CAS replication issue, recommend  to open support ticket with Microsoft .

  • Thanks a lot. I will raise a case.

Can you please confirm one thing here.

Current situation: CAS --> SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 and Primary sites --> SCCM 2012 R2 and the replication link broken to all the Primary sites from CAS.

Query: By changing the Primary Sites WSUS upstream to Microsoft catalog from CAS server will work for Software patch deployment without any issue ?
