User based GPO to start process not working

    Question

  • Hello,

We have a GPO to start a process (.exe) which resides locally on the user PC during the User Logon, i followed the below article and configured it.

            https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/240791/how-to-run-programs-automatically-when-a-user-logs-on

Unfortunately the process is not started since it require admin privilege, can someone help to handle this?

I dont find anything wrong with path.

  • Hi,

Could you please share the program name for us for further test?

Also, you may try to use scheduled tasks to see if it helps.

    Best Regards,

    William

  • Like William suggested, you might have success using a Task to run the executable. You can store credentials within the task if administrative level rights are required.
