Windows Vista Bluescreen Bugcheck C000021A RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a hp laptop that runs on vista.  It has started to give me a blue screen that says DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL with a STOP X0.00000D1.  There is no file name under it however.

It gave me Bugcheck C000021A.  The parameter= 0x8ae9fec0, 0x0, 0xc0000001, 0x100468 as the root cause found.  It also tells me with theis message that Boot critical file in corrupt.

I am unable to start the computer in safe mode.  I was able to run a start up repair check.  Within the details of this fail repair, i got an unknown bugcheck d.1 parameter 0xe001, 0x6, 0x8, 0xe001.

This is also where I got a problem signiture name StartupRepairV2.

    Signiture 1: Auto failover

    Signiture 2: 6.0.6000.16386.60.6001.18000

    Signiture 3: 6

    Signiture 4: 327684

    Signiture 5: Corruptfile

    Signiture 6:0xD1

    Signiture 7: 0

    Signiture 8: 2

    Signiture 9: WRP repair

    Signiture 10:0

    OS Version: 6.0.6000.

    Local ID: 1033

This last message it gave me I have no idea what it all means. If anyone at all has any information on how to save this computer and get it to at least boot up I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thank you

Poor college student who cannot afford a new computer.

  • I started getting the same error last night after a return from vacation.  It appears to be due to a microsoft update (not sure which one) that is causing an issue.  I was able to successfully reboot by going back to a previous restore point.  However, after booting up successfully I installed the pending microsoft updates and received the blue screen again.  I then had to pick a previous restore point again.  I guess I will need to turn off microsoft auto updates until this is fixed.   Hope this helps.
