Users profile relocation RRS feed

  • Question

  • How come there is no simple way to relocate a user's profile data from one drive/folder to another drive/folder?? This is absolutely ridiculous!!

How come we still have to do it via the file explorer, go into each folder inside a specific user's profile folder and relocate each folder separately?? And, btw, after doing so, the personal folder still points to the original location!!! this is unbelievably stupid!

Microsoft, just make a f@#$ing tool already, inside "Accounts" settings, to easily migrate one [or more] user's profile data to a different location. Just choose new location & with ONE F@#$ING click!!!

SSD for "System" and HDD for "Data" is neither a new concept nor uncommon use case!! Jeese... DEAL WITH IT!!

  • You can do it through Group Policy on the server, when the machines are added to a domain all these settings are easily changed..

In a home system, you can do it, but need to manually do things, or you can actually do this via scripting.

Alternately you can just spend the extra 60.00 and get a larger SSD and not worry about these settings.. You shouldn't really be saving anything on the desktop, documents folder, pictures directory, or any other profile related location anyway, as the larger the profile the slower the machine is anyway..
