Robocopy changed switches without notification RRS feed

  • Question

  • We're in the process of migrating file shares from an old 2003 file server to a new 2012 box.

A number of times over the past several weeks, we've done this by running

    robocopy \\source\d$\shares\SomeFolder d:\shares\Somefolder /E /ZB /COPYALL /TEE /LOG+:somefile.log

This has worked perfectly, until last night.  Last night's run didn't copy permissions over correctly.  Looking at the log file, it's showing that the switches used were different.  Specifically, instead of /COPYALL, it shows that /DCOPY:DA /COPY:DAT was used.

That is not what was entered at the commandline.  /COPYALL was used, and somehow, robocopy changed it to two separate switches, neither of which specified copying ACLs.  What's more, this was done with no confirmation or even notification at runtime.

Anyone know what the story is with this?
