Best Practice for line classification RRS feed

  • Question

  • Looking to find any best practices on standard work/line classifications for Project Online. I know standards and defaults are available within PWA but are there white papers to provide additional insights, guidelines, and examples of categories.

  • Line classifications were designed to capture special categories of time during time tracking. This designation makes it easier to extract the data via BI functionality.

The example I use is Merger expenses. As Merger expenses can be written off, they are usually tracked quite extensively by companies. If I have a task that is both a combination of Merger and Standard work, I can use the Line classification to create two timesheet lines (one for each classification) for the given task.

Outside of this use case, it is typically not used. Hope this helps.
