Second is a step by step guide I've seen before which looks excellent: http://www.vkernel.ro/blog/configuring-active-directory-sites-and-servicesCRM Advisor

Hi,
The logon process will hit the nearest domain controller when you have AD sites and services configured with the IP range which later will be mapped to a particular AD sites, if all the domain controllers are part of the 'Default Site' then the request can go to any domain controller - this by design, you need to make sure you have AD sites and services configured with the particular IP range for clients to reach to nearest domain controller, an authentication can go any domain controller - it's natural should not raise any concern with the login attempts else let us know what issues you are seeing and will assist you.
