Automated Notification to PMs when a Plan changes RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all.

In our environment, our PMs request resources from a scheduler.  The scheduler then assigns a resource to the appropaite task.

We would like the PM (the project Owner) to be notified when that is done (or anytime the plan is changed by someone else).

Does anyone have suggestions on how that can be done?

We tried setting the '<label for="idCBAlert3">My project tasks are modified' option in the task alerts but that did not seem to do it.</label>

    <label for="idCBAlert3">Any ideas?</label>

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Craig

  • Hi Craig--

As you said that "The scheduler then assigns a resource to the appropriate task." Did she/he save & publish the project? Are you getting the other notifications from project Server?

  • Amit:

Thanks for the reply.  Yes, the scheduler opens the project in either PWA or Professional.  They replace a generic resource with the actual resource.  Then they save and publish.

I am getting other notifications from Project Server.  I getting notifications for at least the following events:

    1.  When I added as a resource to a task

    2.  When a task I am assigned to changes

    3.  When a task I am assigned to is deleted

    4.  When a resource updates the status of a task that I am the status manager for.

    Thanks, Craig

No, there is no default feature in Project Server 2010 that would allow your scenario to occur.  The only way I can imagine making your scenario work would be through custom software development.  So, you might try reposting your question as a software development question in the following user forum:

    Hope this helps.
