Tape back-up / restore: Data corrupt RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have got 2 DPM servers. 1 for the regular tape back-up and an secondary DPM protection server for off-site replication.

Daily we replicate Veeam data to the secondary DPM server on disk. When i would like to restore this data from the secondary back-up server, i am able to mount the back-up file in Veeam and are able to successfully restore the VM.

The secondary DPM server is also back-up this data to Tape.  I am able to restore the data back to disk. I am also able to mount the back-up file in Veeam but i am not able to restore the VM. The message is similar to : data corruption.

There are no errors in DPM regarding the back-up to tape. It just completed.

I've started an MD5 checksum. The MD5 hash is the same for the data on the 1st DPM server and the 2nd DPM server.

But the MD5 hash is different after i restored the data from tape....

I already tried other tapes... same issue.. I already update the firmware of the tape library.. same issue..

Does anyone have any idea how to solve this issue?
